Goodbye New York, Hello London! The opening of a fine new Max Mara three-story store located at Old Bond Street gave urge to showcase the Resort collection here instead of its recent residency in New York. Unlike other brands, Max Mara started the show with a domineering case of pinstripe and chalk stripe on capes and coats worn over monotonous basics. Although the idea of mink head guards and mittens contradicts the supposedly Pre-Spring/Summer concept, it gave Max Mara a boxing edginess. Thankfully, printed warm-up robes later mitigated the monochromatic range. Suddenly colors of daffodil yellow to peony pink popped out and gridded florals. The one thing that never seems to leave all the looks is, chunky Obi-inspired belt monogrammed with ‘M’ and layered modern athletic-leisure shorts.
