Karl Lagerfeld decided to bring Coco’s Resort 2016 collection all the way to the eastern hemisphere, Seoul. Korea offered the eclectic designer a trove of inspiration, just see it from a cultural point of view the K-Pop phenomenon. The front row attendees were made up of fashion enthusiasts, from Gisele Bundchen, Kristen Stewart, Tilda Swinton and of course K-pop superstars dressed in the most stylish street-wear Seoul style. With the perfect backdrop of Dongdaemun Design Plaza, models started walking to the stage dressed in identical manga kewpies, tangled in hats of braided black hair. With no exception, Chanel Resort 2016 show displays a busy pattern with brightly colored patchwork, a technique that Lagerfeld credit Korean culture. It isn’t Chanel if not for their use of mother of pearl embroidery and tweed, this time the collection highlights these two incremental texture in black wrap dressed for pearls and high empire flaring sleeves for tweeds. It is safe to say this is the season of culottes and Chanel delivered their culottes in distinct turquoise lace.
